Basketball Game Preview: Winside Wildcats vs. Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Winside Wildcats challenge the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday... Winside is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Winside is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bloomfield on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Winside lost 52-27 to Bloomfield. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Despite the defeat, Winside had strong showings from Ellie Topp, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards, and Bridget Marotz, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Topp continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Aleah Bilstein also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Meanwhile, Bancroft-Rosalie earned a 67-57 victory over Winnebago on Tuesday.

Bancroft-Rosalie has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Winside, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Winside was taken down by Bancroft-Rosalie 68-22 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Winside was down 37-15.
