Durango scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 57-35 to the Clark Chargers. That's two games in a row now that the Trailblazers have lost by exactly 22 points.
Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makai Miller, who rushed for 148 yards on only 15 carries, and also picked up 83 receiving yards. Miller got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 85 yards. Maddex Peterson was another key signal caller, throwing for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
Clark found their leader in sophomore Felix Romero, who rushed for 183 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Romero is now averaging an impressive 121 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron McCrary, who threw for 202 yards and two TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes.
This is the second loss in a row for Durango and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Clark, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Durango wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 44-7 victory against Western on the 3rd. As for Clark, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 51-0 win against Cimarron-Memorial on the 3rd.
