Baseball Recap: Sissonville Comes Up Short

Sissonville easily dispatched Princeton on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Indians fell just short of the Hoover Huskies by a score of 4-2 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.

Eli Simonton put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Simonton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Barrett Van Camp, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Sissonville's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Hoover, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sissonville will venture away from home to square off against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hoover, they will head out to challenge Nicholas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
