Recap: West Phoenix Eagles vs. South Pointe Griffins

The West Phoenix Eagles lost against the South Pointe Griffins back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. West Phoenix took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Phoenix in their matchups with the Griffins: they've now lost five in a row.

Leading South Pointe to victory were Quion Williams and Zyion Brown. Williams scored 20 points along with three steals, while Brown scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Prince Sohn was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven assists and two steals.

West Phoenix has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for South Pointe, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

West Phoenix will look to defend their home court on Monday against the at 4:00 p.m. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak. As for South Pointe, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Fire at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Premier Prep- PHHoenix Open presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Griffins in Arizona (the Fire are ranked 19th, while the Griffins are ranked 60th).
