Lloyd Memorial gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds, posting a 47-14 win. For the Juggernauts, this counts as revenge for the 27-14 victory the Thoroughbreds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Lloyd Memorial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was KALEB EVANS, who threw for 131 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes. ALIJAH GRIFFIN got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Lloyd Memorial, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of MARJA PETERSON, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Lloyd Memorial's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Looking ahead, Lloyd Memorial will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Newport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newport Central Catholic, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Beechwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
