Mica Mountain is preparing for their first  region matchup of the season  on Monday. They will head out on the road to  face off against  the Salpointe Catholic Lancers  at 6:00  p.m. Mica Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9  runs per game  this season.
Mica Mountain is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Thatcher  on Friday. Mica Mountain blew past Thatcher 13-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Thunderbolts considering their two-run performance the  match before.
 Cole Lohrenz looked comfortable as he  tossed four innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  a single  walk in three consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  Elijah Higuera and  Ethan Hunt did most of the damage at the plate:  Higuera  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-1, while  Hunt  scored two  runs and  stole  Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most  stolen bases  Hunt has posted since back in April of 2024.  Hunter Benson also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hits of the season.
Meanwhile,  everything went Salpointe Catholic's way against Sunnyside on Monday as Salpointe Catholic made off with  a  7-1 victory. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six  runs or more this season.
 The team  relied heavily on  Adan Koch Rodriguez, who  scored three  runs and  stole  Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Johnny Abramian, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 The  win made it two in a row for Salpointe Catholic and  bumps their season record up to 7-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their record is now 4-6-1.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mica Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 6.7  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Salpointe Catholic struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 6.6  strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
