Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks

It was a good run, but the Aquinas Monarchs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to St. Cecilia 44-39. If Aquinas hoped to take revenge for the 44-21 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryant Stouffer. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Stouffer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kasen Lavicky, who scored six points.

Aquinas' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for St. Cecilia, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kearney Catholic on January 20th. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Tuesday. As for St. Cecilia, they will play host again and welcome Lincoln Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln Christian and St. Cecilia are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
