Softball Recap: Riverview Gets the Win

Riverview proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 16) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the East Bay Indians 8-6. The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kara McGuire and Kylie Freeland did most of the damage at the plate: McGuire went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Freeland went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Freeland a new career-high. Laila Girard also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Riverview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matches.

Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for East Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Riverview will be playing in front of their home fans against Plant City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for East Bay, they are taking a road trip to take on Durant at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
