Football Recap: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Mansfield Summit Jaguars
Grapevine extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were outmatched by the Mansfield Summit Jaguars and fell 58-14. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Jaguars are ranked 115th).
Although Grapevine took the loss, they still got scores from Brady Kays and Jailen Holmes.
As for Mansfield Summit, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. That 44 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.
Mansfield Summit's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omogbolahan Daudu, who rushed for 173 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Those 173 rushing yards gave Daudu a new career-high. Ian Gebhardt was another key player, rushing for 83 yards and one score on only seven carries.
