Baseball Recap: Steinbrenner Triumphs

Steinbrenner barely beat Robinson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Steinbrenner Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Robinson Knights a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Chase Petker and Will Hoblitzell did most of the damage at the plate: Petker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Hoblitzell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance gave Petker a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Mason Koumas, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Steinbrenner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Steinbrenner back to even at 7-7. As for Robinson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Steinbrenner will take on Cambridge Christian in a tournament on Monday. Steinbrenner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Robinson, they will take on Hillsborough at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Hillsborough has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.69 runs per game on average), something Robinson will no doubt try to take advantage of.
