It was a good run, but Mescalero Apache unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Dexter Demons. The Chiefs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Demons earlier this season, when they won 52-44.

Dexter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melody Duran, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duran has scored at least a third of Dexter's points. Another player making a difference was Jayda Flores, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Mescalero Apache's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Dexter, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Mescalero Apache wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-40 victory against Bosque on the 27th. Dexter has also already played their next match, a 33-29 win against Ruidoso on the 27th.
