Softball Game Preview: Adena Warriors vs. Wheelersburg Pirates

The Adena Warriors will take on the Wheelersburg Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Adena comes in on three and Wheelersburg on 23.

Adena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Meigs as they made off with a 12-5 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Marly Halcomb, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Guarnieri, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Adena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wheelersburg got themselves on the board against Rock Hill on Monday, but Rock Hill never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Redmen with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Pirates are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 18th contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Wheelersburg pushed their record up to 23-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Adena, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
