Basketball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Highlands Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Lauderdale). They enjoyed a cozy 79-64 victory over the Highlands Christian Knights on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Fort Lauderdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adler Olweean led the charge by going 6-for-12 on his way to 21 points and six boards. Olweean continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rawle Farose, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Fort Lauderdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Fort Lauderdale's record now sits at 3-1. As for Highlands Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Fort Lauderdale and Westminster Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Highlands Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Plantation at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
