Softball Recap: South-Doyle Comes Up Short

South-Doyle came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sequoyah Chiefs by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Cherokees haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Haylee Richards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, South-Doyle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Smithers, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

South-Doyle now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Sequoyah, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South-Doyle will challenge Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sequoyah, they will face off against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Eagleton College & Career Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
