Basketball Recap: Conestoga Takes a Loss

Conestoga was the 55-47 winner over Arlington when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Conestoga Cougars took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arlington Eagles on Friday.

Trent Koger was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 21 rebounds for Arlington. Koger has become a key player for Arlington: the team is 8-4 when he posts at least ten boards, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Schuyler Logemann, who went 5 for 9 to rack up 15 points.

Conestoga has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Arlington, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga will take on Douglas County West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas County West will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Conestoga surely won't give up without a fight. As for Arlington, they will challenge Plattsmouth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arlington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
