Basketball Recap: New Deal Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when New Deal challenged Hermleigh on Friday. The New Deal Lions took a 37-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hermleigh Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Cardinals are ranked 200th).

New Deal's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Hermleigh, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Deal will host Post at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Hermleigh, they will take on Trent at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermleigh's defense has only allowed 26.2 points per game this season, so Trent's offense will have their work cut out for them.
