Baseball Game Preview: Saint Francis Catholic Wolves vs. Eastside Rams

The Saint Francis Catholic Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Eastside Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Saint Francis Catholic has three straight wins, Eastside has 21 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Saint Francis Catholic will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Fort White, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Wolves came out on top against the Indians by a score of 7-3 on Thursday.

Nate Muir made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Diaz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Eastside lost 18-3 to Gainesville on Friday.

Saint Francis Catholic pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Eastside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saint Francis Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. It's a different story for Eastside, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Saint Francis Catholic's hitters?

Saint Francis Catholic might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Eastside in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
