Prolific Missouri signal caller Alex Huston on record pace at Glendale of Springfield.

Missouri signal caller threw for 631 yards over the weekend.

While quarterbacks from Texas and Utah were making their way into the record books last weekend, Glendale (Springfield, Mo.) quarterback Alex Huston hit a yardage milestone faster than any quarterback in high school football history.

With 631 yards in a 48-28 win over Lebanon (Mo.), Huston surpassed 7,500 career yards in just his 15th high school game. No high school quarterback had ever reached 6,000 yards in 15 games and Myles Brennan of St. Stanislaus (Bay St. Louis, Miss.) held the previous best total of 5,797 yards in 15 games.

For his career, Huston has 7,699 yards, good for an average of 513.3 yards per game. No other quarterback is even close to that average. Maty Mauk of Kenton (Ohio) is next on the list with 378.6 yards per game. Huston, a former Kenton player, is coached by Mauk's father, Mike.

Meanwhile, Jake Smith of Bishop Gorman (Tyler, Texas) threw for 10 touchdowns and 693 yards in a 91-71 win over Ore City. While Texas high school football record sites do not recognize totals set by players from TAPPS schools, Smith's touchdown total ties him for the best performance in state history with Travis Quintanilla of Refugio.

In Utah, both Dane Leituala of Taylorsville and Crew Wakley accounted for 11 touchdowns apiece to tie for a new state record in that category in their 91-83 outing won by Jordan.
