Basketball Recap: Westwood Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwest Georgia Academy, Westwood was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fullington Academy Trojans, sneaking past 50-48. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Fullington Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cutter Tharpe, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 20 points. The match was Tharpe's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Sangster, who posted seven points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.

Westwood's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for Fullington Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Westwood will square off against Sherwood Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fullington Academy, they will take on Highland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fullington Academy is facing Highland Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Highland Christian Academy is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
