Basketball Game Preview: Service Cougars vs. Grace Christian Grizzlies

The Service Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Grace Christian Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Service is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked first at the time (Service was ranked eighth). The game between Service and Bettye Davis East Anchorage didn't end well, with Service falling 51-37. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian entered their tilt with Colony on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They managed a 64-60 victory over the Knights.

Grace Christian's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Service, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Everything came up roses for Service against Grace Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 72-38 victory. Will Service repeat their success, or does Grace Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
