Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. Northwest Guilford Vikings
The Chambers Cougars''s homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Chambers presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northwest Guilford in North Carolina (Chambers is ranked 15th, while Northwest Guilford is ranked 64th).
Last Friday, Chambers ended up a good deal behind Mallard Creek and lost 21-6. Chambers gained 249 more yards on the day, but it was Mallard Creek that made the best of use of them.
The losing side was boosted by Braylon Vinson, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Northwest Guilford stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They didn't even let Southwest Guilford onto the board and left with a 24-0 win. The win was nothing new for Northwest Guilford as they're now sitting on five straight.
Northwest Guilford can attribute much of their success to Rakem Hammock, who gained 70 total yards and two touchdowns, and Malique Jones, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Chambers' defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Northwest Guilford, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2.
Everything came up roses for Chambers against Northwest Guilford when the teams last played back in November of 2018 as the team secured a 50-7 victory. Will Chambers repeat their success, or does Northwest Guilford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
