Basketball Recap: Royal Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Royal won the last time they faced Santa Clara, and Ace Arnold did his part to make sure it happened again. The Royal Highlanders walked away with a 64-52 win over the Santa Clara Saints on Monday thanks in part to Arnold, who went 13 of 23 en route to 33 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Jack Parkinson was another key player, putting up three points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Santa Clara saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jj Ward dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Ward is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Macias, who posted nine points and five boards.

Royal has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Santa Clara, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Royal has already played their next game, a 76-68 victory against Moorpark on the 14th. As for Santa Clara, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-60 defeat against Bishop Diego on the 10th.
