Baseball Game Preview: Santa Fe Christian Eagles vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

The Santa Fe Christian Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Santa Fe Christian 4, Rancho Bernardo 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Santa Fe Christian saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against San Marcos by a score of 4-1.

Owen Mauser tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Fe Christian is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Santa Fe Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Carney, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Noah Joseph was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte, and Del Norte kept the tradition alive. Rancho Bernardo took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Norte on Wednesday.

HUGO GONZALEZ made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was NATHAN BEMBENEK, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Rancho Bernardo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Santa Fe Christian now has a winning record of 4-3.
