Baseball Recap: Southwest Christian Drops Season-High Score on Blake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwest Christian). They never let the Blake Bears get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Stars with their most commanding win of the season.

Jack Manion looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Melvin Maldonado, who fired off three home runs, 13 RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. Those 13 RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cruz Winegarden, who went 5-for-6 with three RBI and two runs.

Southwest Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southwest Christian pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Blake, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

Coming up, Southwest Christian will host Delano at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stars will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Blake, they will challenge St. Agnes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
