Softball Game Preview: Robinson Maroons vs. Paris Tigers

The Robinson Maroons will head out to challenge the Paris Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Robinson proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 17) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lawrenceville a 2-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Maroons, who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, Paris posted their closest victory since April 16, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Villa Grove, sneaking past 11-10. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Kayleigh Miller, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. Mattie Carter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Paris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 9-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Robinson pushed their record up to 14-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Paris, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.

Robinson came up short against Paris when the teams last played back in March, falling 10-7. Can the Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
