Basketball Recap: Ware Shoals Hornets vs. Ninety Six Wildcats

After flying high against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind on Thursday, Ware Shoals came back down to earth. The Hornets lost 68-48 to the Ninety Six Wildcats on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-36 last Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Ware Shoals saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Callaham dropped a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Tyrell Cunningham was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Jamarious Dunlap continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ninety Six, shooting 60% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Dunlap is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Jaquarius Dunlap also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Ware Shoals now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ninety Six, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.

Ware Shoals has already played their next contest, a 47-38 win against GREEN Upstate on the 9th. Ninety Six has also already played their next matchup (against Emerald), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
