Basketball Recap: Andrews Wildcats vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs
Andrews lost against Smoky Mountain last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats lost to the Mustangs on the road by a 65-49 margin.
Leading Smoky Mountain to victory were Custer Prenger and Ace Prenger. Custer dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Ace went 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. Custer is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Plemmons, who posted seven points in addition to eight assists and four steals.
Andrews' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Smoky Mountain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Andrews will challenge Summit Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Wildcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Smoky Mountain, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 92-60 victory against Swain County on the 3rd.
