Star Indianapolis guard makes announcement, gives John Calipari pledges from two of the nation's top 10 juniors.
Credit Seattle hoops star Tony Wroten Jr. for breaking the news of Marquis Teague's commitment to Kentucky – via Twitter.
Late Wednesday, the Garfield High School (Seattle, Wash.) star posted, "Yessir. Mr.teague will be a kentucky wildcat. Its final."
Teague made good on Wroten's words Thursday, verbally committing to John Calipari's Wildcats during an announcement held at Pike High School (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Kentucky won out over rival Louisville for the services of the MaxPreps Junior All-American selection, who averaged 18.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season.
Teague is regarded as the No. 8 overall prospect in the Class of 2011 by MaxPreps.
The Indianapolis point guard's pledge continues a recent run of recruiting home runs for Calipari. The second-year Wildcat head coach closed the 2010 class strong by adding Florida star Brandon Knight (No. 3 2010 prospect) and Oak Hill Academy guard Doron Lamb (No. 19).
No. 1-ranked junior Michael Gilchrist also made an early commitment to the SEC power last week.
