Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hayfield

Hayfield won against Mabel-Canton on Thursday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Vikings beat the Lyle/Pacelli Cougars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won three games in a row.

Charlie Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Dahle was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kael Steele, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

Hayfield's record now sits at 6-7. As for Lyle/Pacelli, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Hayfield will square off against Blooming Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lyle/Pacelli has already played their next contest (against Schaeffer Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
