Softball Recap: Wellesley Raiders vs. Framingham Flyers
Wellesley extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-3 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-1 to the Framingham Flyers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flyers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
As for Framingham, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.
For Framingham's part, Kayla Goodridge made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave Goodridge a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Goodridge wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Lally, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Lally is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Avery Palmer also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Coming up, Wellesley will take on Beverly at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Framingham, they will square off against Natick at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
