Soccer Game Preview: Finneytown vs. Western Hills

The Finneytown Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Western Hills Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Finneytown has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Finneytown fell victim to Mariemont and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Finneytown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Mariemont are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, Western Hills came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 4-1 victory. Considering Western Hills have won six matchups by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Finneytown has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8-2 record this season. As for Western Hills, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Finneytown suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Western Hills in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
