Preview: Brockway Rovers vs. Redbank Valley Bulldogs
Brockway and Redbank Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Brockway Rovers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brockway had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ridgway/Johnsonburg 51-7 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Jendy Cuello continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 191 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Brayden Fox was another key contributor, throwing for 302 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Meanwhile, Redbank Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 57-13 victory over Port Allegany at home. Given Redbank Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Port Allegany is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mason Clouse and Braylon Wagner were among the main playmakers for Redbank Valley as the former picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns and the latter threw for 296 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Wagner is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Caden Adams made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Their wins bumped Brockway to 6-2 and Redbank Valley to 8-0.
Brockway didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Redbank Valley in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 7-3 victory. Will Brockway repeat their success, or does Redbank Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
