Basketball Recap: Olney Comes Up Short

Olney lost against Frankford back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trojans took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers.

Doron Ross was his usual excellent self, putting up 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Frankford. The Pioneers are 2-1 when Ross posts three or more steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Edriel Molina-Lopez, who posted five points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Olney's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Frankford, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.

Looking ahead, Olney and Simon Gratz will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday without much rest, having both just played. The Trojans will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Frankford, they and Liguori Academy will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday without much rest, having both just played. The Pioneers' defense better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 61 points per game this season.
