Basketball Game Preview: Waelder Wildcats vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs

The Waelder Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waelder is looking for their season's first victory.

Waelder is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 79-60 to Rice Consolidated. Even if the Wildcats couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley came up short against Navarro on Saturday and fell 52-43.

Nixon-Smiley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Waelder, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Things could have been worse for Waelder, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-36 loss to Nixon-Smiley in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can Waelder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
