Recap: Neoga Indians vs. Meridian Hawks
The Neoga Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight defeat. The matchup between them and Meridian wasn't particularly close, with Neoga falling 57-41. While losing is never fun, Neoga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while Meridian is ranked 289th).
Meridian had a senior duo take command as Lleyton Miller scored 16 points along with four steals and Sebastian Hill dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Ralston, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Neoga has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neoga will take on Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Meridian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. Shelbyville will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Meridian surely won't give up without a fight.
