Softball Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Mater Academy East Las Vegas took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Virgin Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

The team relied heavily on Telisha Sayles, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamille Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Virgin Valley, they moved to 16-6 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Mater Academy East Las Vegas and Virgin Valley will both be playing Cheyenne the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Desert Shields at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
