Basketball Recap: South Effingham Comes Up Short

South Effingham had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it five. They fell just short of the Beach Bulldogs by a score of 52-49. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in November of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why South Effingham lost, don't look at Michael Hall. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points and four steals. Hall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Benja Crofts was another key player, putting up six points in addition to ten boards and five blocks.

As for Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games.

Beach's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Lambert, who went 6-for-10 en route to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Lambert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kejuan Ferguson, who scored nine points and six steals.

Coming up, South Effingham will venture away from home to challenge Calvary Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beach, they will square off against Baldwin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
