Baseball Recap: Paris Wins Going Away Against Nicholas County

Paris lost to Nicholas County back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Greyhounds blew past the Bluejackets 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dexter Leverett was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Leverett was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cameron Mays was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Sam Morris also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Paris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nicholas County only posted an OBP of .316.

Paris' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Nicholas County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Paris will be playing at home against Pendleton County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Nicholas County, they are taking a road trip to face off against West Carter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
