Softball Recap: Monroe Township Takes a Loss

Monroe Township had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Hunterdon Central Red Devils, falling 15-6. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jordyn Jarka and Isabella Rubino stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jarka went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Rubino went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Storey, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Hunterdon Central, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

On Hunterdon Central's side, the team relied heavily on Cam Tucker, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella I, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Monroe Township will head out on the road to take on East Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.86 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hunterdon Central, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Hunterdon at 4:00 p.m.
