Softball Recap: Alhambra Bulldogs vs. Redwood Giants
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alhambra had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Redwood Giants. The victory was some much needed relief for Alhambra as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Willa Adler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Keira Sullivan was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Samantha Schuler, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double.
On Redwood's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kait Christensen (2027), who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Alhambra's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Redwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season.
Alhambra will square off against Livermore at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Livermore is coming into the match with five straight victories at home, so Alhambra will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Redwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
