Basketball Recap: Kearns Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Kearns took on West Jordan on Friday. The Kearns Cougars were outmatched by the West Jordan Jaguars and fell 64-27. The Cougars have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

West Jordan had a senior duo take command as Marlee Reupena dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals and Giselle Muffett posted 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Muffett's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Francine McIntyre, who scored eight points.

Kearns' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for West Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Kearns will square off against Cyprus at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kearns is facing Cyprus at the right time seeing as Cyprus is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Jordan, they will challenge Hunter at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Jordan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
