Perham came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 78-73 W against the Hawley Nuggets. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Nuggets are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Perham pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points over those games. As for Hawley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-20.
