Softball Preview: Topsail Pirates vs. Ashley Screaming Eagle
Topsail is 9-1 against Ashley since March of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Topsail Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Topsail gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Hoggard with a sharp 13-3 win. Topsail's victory was all the more impressive since Hoggard was averaging only 3.69 runs allowed on the season.
Kennedy Sloan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Sloan has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Sloan was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with a double and an RBI.
