Baseball Recap: Bellevue Find Success

Bellevue never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They skirted past the Saint Jo Panthers 2-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ryan Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Jones was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Bellevue is 3-0-1 when Jones posts three or more hits, but 0-7 otherwise.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Walker Strahan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Hunter Blackburn also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Bellevue kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Jo only managed seven hits.

Bellevue's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7-1. As for Saint Jo, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Bellevue will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
