Recap: Hinkley Thunderbirds vs. Lakewood Tigers
The Hinkley Thunderbirds had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. Their rough 54-33 defeat to Lakewood might stick with them for a while. Hinkley has not had much luck with Lakewood recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Hinkley still got an impressive performance from Angel Castelan, who scored 21 points. Lawrence Morris was another key contributor, scoring 2 points.
Hinkley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lakewood pulled down 11.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Davis, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Quentin Wilson, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Hinkley's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Hinkley will head out on the road to face off against Erie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Erie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will square off against Palmer Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
