Basketball Recap: Jacob Longoria Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Miller

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, Carroll was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Miller Buccaneers with a 62-58 win. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Buccaneers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 61-60 defeat.

Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Longoria, who posted 21 points. The game was Longoria's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Barrios, who scored ten points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Loss or not, Miller got some senior leadership from George Simmons and Corey Holmes. Simmons put up 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Holmes almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holmes has scored all season. Trevor Long was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Carroll's record now sits at 15-17. As for Miller, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14.

Carroll wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-61 loss against Ray on the 4th. As for Miller, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 90-47 defeat against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial on the 4th.
