Volleyball Recap: Sanger West Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sanger West can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Mammoth Huskies on Tuesday. The Hornets' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Sanger West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-16, 25-22.

Addison Muehlhaus paced Sanger West's offense, picking up nine kills. Muehlhaus got some help from Ariel Vang and her 13 assists. Kianna Charfauros controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Aspen Wight was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 11 digs and three aces. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more aces the last three times she's played.

Sanger West's loss dropped their record down to 20-19. As for Mammoth, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-4-1 record this season.

Sanger West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mammoth, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Chowchilla on the 30th.
