Softball Recap: Polk County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Polk County never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Asheville Cougars with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Polk County let Junie Mitchell and Mia Bradley run wild. Mitchell scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Bradley scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Bradley a new career-high in RBI (three).

Polk County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville only managed one hit.

The win snapped Polk County's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for Asheville, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Polk County will be playing at home against Hendersonville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hendersonville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something Polk County will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Asheville, they have already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against T.C. Roberson on the 21st.
