Baseball Recap: Columbus Discoverers vs. Lincoln East Spartans
Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-1 to the Lincoln East Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Saturday.
Columbus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Holys, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Holys' first of the season.
Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lincoln East, their win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will face off against Kearney at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lincoln East, they will take on Grand Island at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Grand Island will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lincoln East surely won't give up without a fight.
