Softball Game Preview: Hargrave Falcons vs. Tarkington Longhorns

The Hargrave Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Tarkington Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Hargrave nor Tarkington posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Friday just wasn't the day for Hargrave's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shepherd on Friday.

Kylen Padgett was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Tarkington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 15-0 to Liberty.

Hargrave has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. Tarkington's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything went Hargrave's way against Tarkington when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Hargrave made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hargrave since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
